Sync-in 2.3 brings Markdown editor, improved file editing & search, and trash retention

Sync-in 2.3 brings a dedicated Markdown editor that offers both visual and source modes for Markdown file editing. Alongside this, both text and Markdown editors now provide a unified search interface, complete with a results counter and navigation tools to move between hits. Administrators gain increased flexibility with the ability to choose which document families are shown in the “New Document” window, ensuring that only relevant template types are available to users, while text and Markdown remain accessible at all times.

With this release, optional trash retention allows administrators to set automatic cleanup schedules for deleted items, with separate controls for user and collaborative spaces. This behavior is disabled by default to maintain existing data retention workflows. Building on backend improvements, full-text content indexing is now more memory-efficient and reliable, allowing larger Sync-in installations to scale better.

In addition, user avatars and storage quotas can be synchronized from OpenID Connect and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) sources. Instances now control global visibility for users who are not part of any group. Content detection for files without extensions or with generic MIME types is also more accurate. The size limit for text and Markdown file editing has increased from 10 MB to 25 MB, supporting larger files and embedded data. Sync-in 2.3 also includes targeted bug and security fixes to improve stability and usability.
