Wipr 2.30 introduces Filtr to block ads, trackers, popups, and cookie warnings system-wide
Wipr, the Safari extension known for blocking ads, popups, trackers, and cookie warnings, has released version 2.30 with a major expansion of its capabilities. The update introduces Filtr, a feature that extends Wipr’s ad and tracker blocking beyond Safari to all apps on your device. Filtr leverages Apple's new URL Filters technology, allowing network-level blocking system-wide. This method does not access or process user data, and provides more granular controls than prior solutions.
Expanding its usability, Filtr can operate alongside virtual private networks (VPNs), iCloud Private Relay, and custom domain name system (DNS) settings. Filtr is offered as an in-app purchase and supports family sharing across all your Apple devices.
Alongside Filtr, the 2.30 release brings several enhancements to the user experience. Users will notice improved compatibility with a range of websites and minor updates to the user interface. Additionally, the release addresses a bug that previously prevented Filtr from being unlocked on certain devices.
