Deezer says 44% of daily uploads are AI-generated, but only represent ≈1-3% of streams
Deezer has announced that it now receives nearly 75,000 AI-generated tracks every day, accounting for 44% of all music uploaded to the platform. This marks a sharp increase from just over a year ago, when daily AI-generated uploads were around 10,000. In response to the rising volume, Deezer has strengthened its approach to transparency and integrity.
Since 2025, Deezer's AI-music detection system clearly labels tracks created with artificial intelligence. These tracks are automatically excluded from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists, ensuring listeners can make informed choices while limiting the spread of AI-generated content within the platform.
While the influx of AI-generated tracks is significant, actual consumption remains minimal. Only 1-3% of all streams on Deezer feature music identified as AI-generated, and 85% of streams involving such tracks are flagged as fraudulent and are therefore demonetized. This reflects both low listener engagement and active fraud prevention by Deezer.
Following these changes, Deezer commissioned an international study which found that 97% of people could not distinguish between AI and human-produced music. Furthermore, 80% of respondents support clear labeling of AI-generated tracks. Meanwhile, other streaming platforms have already implemented their own strategies: Qobuz has launched an AI-detection tool a couple of months ago, while Bandcamp has clearly banned AI-generated music from its platform altogether.
