Blackmagic Camera 3.3 for iOS adds Apple Watch app, HDMI portrait mode & ProRes RAW fixes
Blackmagic Camera 3.3 for iOS introduces several high-impact features, starting with support for remote camera control through a new Apple Watch companion app. This addition lets users start and stop recordings, adjust camera settings, and monitor status directly from their wrist, providing greater flexibility on shoots.
Expanding output and control, the update delivers full screen portrait mode HDMI output and compatibility with both Blackmagic Focus and Zoom demands. These features cater to advanced users needing precise accessory control for professional video production. Following these enhancements, Blackmagic Camera 3.3 brings support for ProRes RAW stabilization on devices running iOS 26.1 and above, which is particularly relevant for professionals focused on high-quality post-production workflows.
Additionally, users can now benefit from ATEM camera control when connecting the Blackmagic Camera ProDock, further integrating the app with Blackmagic’s ecosystem. For iPhone 17 users, the front camera now supports both portrait and landscape capture without unwanted rotation artifacts. This release also resolves issues affecting ProRes RAW recording from the front lens and addresses preview lag when using the ProDock as an audio source. Lastly, the update corrects open gate H.264 and H.265 encoding bit rates and includes performance and stability improvements across supported devices.
