Blackmagic Camera 3.4 for Android adds 4K HDMI output with audio & Wear OS camera control

Blackmagic Design has released version 3.4 of the Blackmagic Camera app for Android, delivering its digital film camera controls and proprietary image processing to mobile filmmakers. The latest update enables 4K HDMI video output with audio, supporting professional-grade monitoring and external recording directly from Android devices.

Alongside output enhancements, this release broadens remote control capabilities. Users can now operate their camera using the companion Wear OS app on supported smartwatches. Remote integration extends further with newly added REST API controls, allowing for automated workflows and compatibility with third-party tools. Remote support for immersive cameras is also introduced, helping meet the needs of complex or multi-camera setups.

Building on the recording workflow, version 3.4 supports continuous recording pause, catering to uninterrupted long-form shoots. The app now integrates with Blackmagic’s focus and zoom demands hardware, empowering users to leverage physical control accessories for precision focus and zoom adjustments.

To organize productions efficiently, a remote camera manager and a proxy clip manager have been added. These management tools streamline multi-camera session oversight and quick access to low-resolution proxy clips when reviewing or sharing footage.
