YouTube Music adds Made with AI labels to generated music tracks

YouTube Music is introducing a new “Made with AI” label for music tracks that were substantially altered or fully generated using generative AI. The label focuses on songs where AI played a significant role in creating elements such as compositions or vocals, rather than tracks that simply used AI tools during production. The system follows the same general approach as YouTube’s existing AI disclosure labels for videos.

The rollout begins on YouTube Music, where the label will appear directly on the player page. Listeners can tap it to see additional information about the use of AI in a track. YouTube plans to expand the feature to its main app later.

To identify eligible songs, YouTube is working with music industry partners and using its own detection tools. Music partners are expected to disclose relevant uses of generative AI when uploading tracks, but YouTube may also rely on other signals when no disclosure is provided. The company says the labels are intended to give listeners more transparency about how the music they hear was created.
