Apple announces new Creator Studio subscription bundle with Final Cut, Logic Pro, and more

Apple has announced Apple Creator Studio, a new subscription bundle that brings it closer to the kind of all-in-one plans offered by Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Launching January 28, the plan groups much of Apple’s creative and productivity software into a single monthly or annual subscription, rather than relying mainly on one time purchases, as has been the case for most of these products until now.

The bundle includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on Mac and new "premium" content with a curated Content Hub with high-quality photos, graphics, and illustrations for Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and later this year, Freeform (the core apps remain free though). It also adds new AI focused tools, including Final Cut Pro features like Beat Detection with a Beat Grid, Montage Maker, Auto Crop for vertical video, and transcript and visual search. Alongside from more AI features, Pixelmator Pro is also launching a new optimized version for iPadOS with apple pencil support.

The new subscription tier costs $13 per month or $130 per year and includes a free one month trial, with a student and educator tier at $3 per month or $30 per year. One subscription can be shared with up to six people via Family Sharing. It is also worth noting that Mac versions of the pro apps, like Final Cut Pro, remain available as standalone purchases, and some AI features require Apple Intelligence capable devices, with system requirements varying by app.

Subscriptions being a thing would not be an issue if the same people always have option of single time payment as well. Subscriptions are only good as a payment option.

Makes sense. iUsers are used to pay subscriptions for every possible thing, so why not for some photos to put into presentations.

"Apple Creator Studio is a great value that enables creators of all types to pursue their craft and grow their skills by providing easy access to the most powerful and intuitive tools [...] all leveled up with advanced intelligent tools to augment and accelerate workflows..."

... well, nobody cares what it supposes to mean as long as "Apple" in the name.

So Apple, please just grab your monthly $100M from subscriptions and shut up about AI.
