Pano Scrobbler 4.0 launches with Windows/Linux version and Material 3 Expressive design
Pano Scrobbler 4.0 is now available, enhancing music tracking for Last.fm, ListenBrainz, Libre.fm, Pleroma, and other compatible services. This release features a full rewrite using Compose Multiplatform and expands availability to Windows and Linux users, in addition to Android.
Building on its updated architecture, the app now employs Google's Material 3 Expressive design system, bringing a refreshed user interface. Android 14 and newer users running non Play Store builds can once again enable a persistent notification, which may help keep the app running in the background. The distribution has also changed: GitHub builds are now free of non-free dependencies, and Play Store purchases are no longer supported outside the Play Store, in alignment with platform policies.
In terms of automation and external integration, Tasker intents have been replaced with ContentProvider
query URIs and an allowlist for increased security. Several feature adjustments include the removal of in-app scrobble from microphone, with users now guided to Shazam or AutoShazam, and the discontinuation of native Maloja support, instead suggesting the ListenBrainz API. These changes streamline integration with external services.
Other technical updates include revised regex edit logic, now supporting the blocking of scrobbles, improved visibility for pending scrobbles’ status and failures, and raised Android support to version 16, ending support for Android 6.
