Infomaniak adds email encryption for all users with simple activation

Infomaniak kMail now provides email encryption for every user, including those on free and custom domain plans, without additional charges. Encryption can be activated with a single click while composing an email, requiring no technical expertise or setup. This update ensures that communication between Infomaniak accounts is automatically encrypted, signed, and decrypted with no need to manage or share passwords.

For messages sent to external providers such as Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, or Yahoo Mail, users must set a password when sending encrypted emails. Recipients outside the Infomaniak ecosystem receive a link to a secure interface and must enter the password to access the content. All encrypted messages remain accessible in the sender's Sent Messages folder via an internal key, maintaining end-to-end security.

Infomaniak Mail is developed and hosted exclusively in Switzerland to support sovereign data control goals, and emails are protected under Swiss (FADP, EPDA) and European (GDPR) data protection regulations. Encryption leverages proven standards such as OpenPGP, elliptic curve cryptography, and AES-256-GCM. Private keys are kept within Infomaniak infrastructure and are only decoded during authenticated user sessions, providing additional security even if an IMAP password is compromised due to integrated two-factor authentication.
