Google expands Gemini AI to Android Auto, Wear OS, Google TV, and earbuds
Google is bringing its Google Gemini artificial intelligence platform to more devices, including Android Auto, Wear OS, Google TV, and certain Sony and Samsung earbuds. The expansion enables conversational interactions previously unavailable in Google Assistant, allowing users on Wear OS to set reminders with casual voice commands, like telling Gemini to remember a locker number, using improved natural language capabilities.
Android Auto will soon feature Gemini, enabling hands-free requests without precise phrasing. Gemini will summarize and translate text messages in over 40 languages and can be set to always message a specific contact in a chosen language. It will roll out to Android Auto in the coming months, with Google built-in cars following later this year.
Google is also collaborating with Samsung to launch Android XR with Gemini integrated from the start, helping users to plan activities using videos, maps, and travel tips. On Google TV, Gemini will improve content recommendations, offer child-friendly suggestions, and answer children’s questions about shows. Gemini will also enhance voice interaction on upcoming Sony and Samsung earbuds, though specific features are not yet detailed.
