Proton Drive introduces a refreshed macOS app and is now available on Windows on ARM

Proton has unveiled a comprehensive rebuild of Proton Drive for macOS, emphasizing a refreshed design and enhanced performance, including up to double the speed for file uploads and downloads. The update introduces a streamlined desktop menu bar interface, allowing users to instantly access recently edited, uploaded, and synced files without navigating through folders. A new status tracker provides real-time updates on file sync status, enabling users to manage errors seamlessly without disrupting their workflow.

Proton Drive 2.0 continues to prioritize privacy-first, secure cloud storage with end-to-end encryption. Looking ahead, Proton plans to introduce additional features and release the Software Development Kit (SDK) for the macOS app, which will serve as a foundation for a Linux app.

Additionally, Windows users benefit from the new Optimize Storage feature, which offers enhanced control over synced folders and provides detailed insights within File Explorer, ensuring encrypted files remain organized and accessible. Last by not least, if you’re using a Windows laptop or tablet with an ARM chip, you can now enjoy the full Proton Drive experience optimized for your device.

Congrats to macos users. Glad to see them get a second drive app, Proton probably already working on a third one for them. It's okay. And I'm not mad, don't write that I got mad.
