Adobe unveils major Firefly update with new AI models and several AI features for its apps
Adobe has released a major Adobe Firefly update, adding new AI models and unifying tools for generating images, videos, audio, and vectors. The update includes Firefly Image Model 4 for faster everyday visuals and Image Model 4 Ultra for high-detail outputs like photorealistic scenes and portraits. New prompt controls allow users to fine-tune style and composition. The Firefly Video Model is now out of beta, generating 5-second 1080p clips with improved realism, detail retention, and support for multiple aspect ratios and camera motions.
Other additions include Text to Vector for generating editable vector graphics from text prompts, and Firefly Boards, a collaborative canvas feature for moodboarding. A Firefly mobile app is also coming to iOS and Android soon. Adobe will now support third-party AI models in Adobe Creative Cloud, starting with Imagen3, OpenAI GPT, and Veo2, with more coming soon. Users can switch between models and see which was used via Content Credentials.
The company also rolled out key updates across its core apps. Adobe Illustrator adds AI-powered tools like Generative Shape Fill and Text to Pattern, along with performance boosts that make common effects up to 5x faster. Adobe Photoshop introduces Select Details for more accurate selections and a redesigned Adjust Colors panel, plus a new Actions panel (Beta) that suggests AI-driven edits based on the image. Adobe Express expands its video capabilities with Clip Maker, bulk editing tools, and animated presets, while enhancing brand consistency features like Generate Similar and brand kits. Additional updates include PDF-to-InDesign conversion and Generative Fill (Beta) in Adobe InDesign, Landscape Masking in Adobe Lightroom, and the addition of over 1,500 fonts to Adobe Fonts.
