/e/OS 2.8 released with improved Account Manager, smoother App Lounge, and bug fixes

/e/OS has released version 2.8 of its open-source, privacy-focused mobile operating system, designed as an alternative to default stock Android. This update enhances the account manager by adding a link to its privacy policy, ensuring users have easy access to important privacy information. The App Lounge has also received improvements, including a refined warning message for manual updates and a more readable format for F-Droid app descriptions.

Version 2.8 also brings several software updates, including enhancements to LineageOS 21, the web browser, Maps, and the firmware for the Nothing CMF Phone 1. Additionally, it addresses various bugs affecting devices such as the Fairphone 3 & 4, Google Pixel 5, OnePlus Nord, Nothing CMF Phone 1, and a range of Samsung devices.

/e/ is a mobile operating system based on LineageOS, designed to be entirely free of Google services. It focuses on privacy and user control, integrating features like Nextcloud for cloud sync. Rated 4.7, /e/ offers an "ungoogled" experience, appealing to users seeking alternatives to mainstream OS options. Its top alternatives include Android, LineageOS, and GrapheneOS.

Very nice to see /e/ continuing to improve, as a very simple privacy-focused alternative to Android, and more simple to install than Lineage, that includes their cloud platform, with many supported devices (including a bunch of old Samsung that don't support stock Android last versions). They also have a web installer (using WebUSB) for some phone models. For more information and control over trackers, I recommend Iodé which have a neat tracker dashboard integration.

100% agree. I have personally helped 6 people changing from their google android to an /e/ os. And if anyone's reading, you can purchase phones with /e/ pre-installed from their website. Amazing project, helping to break Google and Apple marketshare.
