LineageOS 21 released based on Android 14 with revamped apps and improvements
LineageOS, the open-source Android-based operating system, has just announced the release of its 21st version, built on Android 14, which was launched in October 2023. LineageOS is a widely recognized custom Android ROM, which was established as a successor to CyanogenMod.
The latest update brings significant enhancements to the features and user experience of Aperture, while several older apps including Jelly, Dialer, Contacts, Messaging, LatinIME (Keyboard), Eleven, and Calculator have received almost complete redesigns, aligning them with the Material You era of Android (and other Google products).
LineageOS 21 also introduces a new app, Glimpse, which will serve as the default gallery app starting from this version. The new version is also equipped with a fresh boot animation, an Android TV launcher free of ads, revamped merge scripts, better extract utilities, a global Quick Settings light mode, an enhanced Setup Wizard, among other features.
Furthermore, LineageOS 21 provides updates for several apps, such as the calendar app Etar, WebView, the web browser, and SeedVault, an encrypted backup application.
