Microsoft Teams introduces Storyline, a social media-style feed powered by Viva Engage

Microsoft Teams is getting more social with a new feature called Storyline, which brings a Facebook-style feed to the platform. This update lets users post updates, reply, and interact with colleagues' content directly within Teams, allowing them to share announcements, project updates, and professional milestones, all in a more social media-like format, similar to LinkedIn.

Storyline is powered by Microsoft Viva Engage, Microsoft's successor to Yammer, and is integrated into the main Teams interface. Users can create Storyline posts alongside direct messages and channels, with a new tab on their profiles showcasing these posts. Users can follow colleagues as they would public figures on social media, with engagement through likes, comments, and reactions visible in the Teams activity feed.

IT administrators will have control over who can create posts or announcements, though moderation will depend on workplace policies. Microsoft is also developing premium features like profile analytics for Storyline, accessible through a Teams Premium subscription.
