Apple’s acquisition of Pixelmator and Photomator is officially complete

Apple has finalized its acquisition of Pixelmator and Photomator, following its announcement in November last year and subsequent regulatory approval. The Pixelmator team confirmed the transaction's completion, and updates to Pixelmator's apps now include a splash screen acknowledging the acquisition.

Pixelmator, known for its image and photo editing software, offers applications like Pixelmator for iOS, Pixelmator Pro, and Photomator, which are exclusive to Apple's platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Despite the acquisition, no immediate changes have been made to the apps, which remain available on the Apple App Store. The move suggests potential future integration of Pixelmator's features into Apple's operating systems, possibly enhancing native image editing capabilities.

This is like if Microsoft were to acquire Adobe, but to a much lesser extent… for now. Let the monopoly (duopoly) games begin!
