The Xbox full screen experience is now available on Windows PCs for console like setups
Microsoft is officially releasing its new Xbox full screen experience for Windows 11 gaming PCs in public preview, expanding it beyond its recently launched ROG Xbox Ally handheld device in collaboration with Asus. The preview is arriving on all Windows based handhelds and any Windows 11 standard gaming systems at the same time, meaning anyone with a laptop can turn it into a more console like experience through the Xbox App, similar to how Big Picture Mode works on Steam, without needing to use a linux distro like Bazzite, ChimeraOS or SteamOS.
The new interface delivers a console style home screen built for way easier controller-friend navigation, with access to Xbox titles, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere, and games from other storefronts. Users can switch between apps and games by long pressing the Xbox button, or return to the desktop with the Windows key.
The new mode must be enabled manually in Windows Settings, then can be opened through Task View, the Win plus F11 shortcut, the Xbox Game Bar settings, or the Xbox controller button. Enabling this feature requires enrollment in the Windows Insider and Xbox Insider Programs, and it is included in build 26220.7271 on the Dev and Beta channels. The rollout is gradual, with the public release date still to be announced.

Now we will not have SteamOS handhelds because companies will favor their handheld being compatible with everything smh
Is this still an "Agentic OS" whatever that means? Cuz I don't want copilot to bitch on my skill issues while having fun then having it asking me to play for me like it's doing when I create a fucking Word document.
Windows is a shitty OS and I expect this console-like UX will still be Microsoft view of what a "product" is.
"Hey gamer! I noticed you're using a shotgun. Shotguns are close range weapons designed to be used within close range of the enemy players. Pro tip: get close to an enemy as shotguns aren't effective at long ranges!"
Just debloat your system, problem solved. Linux desktop isn't viable yet for everyone.
I can certainly debloat this spyware OS no issue, but most people are using the default, clicking on accept all cookies and don't want to spend two hours tweaking their tools.
