Microsoft integrates DeepSeek's R1 model into Azure AI Foundry and GitHub platforms
Microsoft has integrated DeepSeek’s R1 model into its Azure AI Foundry platform and GitHub.
The R1 model is now part of Azure AI Foundry's model catalog, providing developers the opportunity to incorporate it into their AI applications. This integration follows R1's notable attention in US financial markets, primarily due to its lower training costs compared to OpenAI's leading models.
To ensure the model's safety, R1 has undergone thorough security evaluations, including red teaming and automated behavior assessments. Looking ahead, Microsoft plans to introduce a smaller, distilled version of R1 designed to run locally on Copilot Plus PCs. There is also potential for R1 to be integrated into other AI-powered Microsoft services in the future.
