DeepSeek warns developers of a substantial hike to its API prices

DeepSeek plans to substantially increase API prices but has not yet revealed the new rates or when they will take effect. The company notified developers through its platform and advised them to review their usage plans ahead of the change. Current pricing will remain in place until further details are announced.

The move follows the public test launch of DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731, a 284 billion parameter model in its V4 series. V4-Flash currently costs $0.14 per million uncached input tokens and $0.28 per million output tokens, while V4-Pro costs $0.42 and $0.84, respectively. Artificial Analysis estimates V4-Flash costs around $0.03 per task, compared with about $3.15 for Anthropic's Claude Fable 5.

DeepSeek has built much of its appeal around capable models at relatively low prices, so the planned increase could affect that advantage as competition from Anthropic, OpenAI, and other providers grows. The company has not said how large the increase will be or whether pricing changes will vary between models, but it has certainly made clear that it will be a "significant increase."
