Debian 12.7 released: Focus on security enhancements and critical bug fixes

The Debian Project has released Debian 12.7, the latest update for Debian GNU/Linux 12 "Bookworm." This update comes two months after Debian 12.6. Debian 12.7 continues to utilize the Linux 6.1 LTS kernel, which will be supported until December 2026. The update incorporates all software updates and security patches released since Debian 12.6, providing up-to-date installation media to streamline the deployment process on new hardware.

Debian 12.7 includes 55 security updates and 51 bug fixes across various packages. Detailed information on these updates is available on the Debian release announcement page. Live images for Debian 12.6, available only for 64-bit systems, come preinstalled with desktop environments like KDE Plasma 5.27.5 LTS, GNOME 43.9, Xfce 4.18, among others. Additionally, a "Standard" live ISO image without a graphical environment is also available.

In conjunction with the Debian 12.7 release, the Debian Project announced Debian 11.11 for the Debian GNU/Linux 11 "Bullseye" series. Debian 11.11 includes 50 bug fixes and 27 security updates. Existing Debian users are encouraged to update their systems to the latest version using terminal commands or a graphical package manager like Synaptic.
