Privacy-focused mobile OS /e/OS launches version 2.0 with new features and enhancements

/e/OS, an open source and privacy-centric mobile operating system, recently unveiled its version 2.0, which is built upon LineageOS 20 and incorporates a range of new features and enhancements. The update includes an upgraded launcher, fresh icons, wallpapers, and UI improvements, enhancing the overall aesthetic and usability of the operating system.

The new version of /e/OS also introduces support for Android Auto, broadening its compatibility with in-car systems. Additionally, the camera app now includes a QR code scanning function accessible via the lower left side button, adding to its array of user-friendly features.

A unique addition to the homepage is the Wall of Shame, designed to highlight the apps and trackers that leak the most data, promoting awareness and encouraging privacy-conscious behavior among users.

/e/OS 2.0 also introduces changes to its native apps. Users can now use the notes app without the need for an account. The App Lounge, /e/OS's app store, now has a search filter that allows users to sift through apps with no trackers, open source apps from F-Droid, and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).

The update also includes version 1.5 of eDrive, promising increased stability. In addition, the calendar app now displays past events up to a year back, an increase from the previous limit of three months.

Lastly, /e/OS 2.0 brings device-specific improvements and a series of minor changes and bug fixes, demonstrating a commitment to continual refinement and user experience optimization.
