Microsoft upgrades Clipchamp with AI-powered silence removal and more free features
Microsoft has updated its video editing tool, Clipchamp, with a new series of AI-powered features, including automatic removal of awkward silences from videos using AI, similar to other popular alternatives like CapCut. This feature will be free for all Personal accounts.
The AI-powered silence removal tool is able to detects, trims, and deletes awkward silences in videos, a task that usually requires manual effort. Users can access this feature through the AI suggestions button in the toolbar, which also allows for manual removal of each silent part individually or all at once. In addition to this, Microsoft has included over 200 new stock audio tracks to Clipchamp. These tracks can be used as background music in videos and are available royalty-free to Personal accounts.
The update also brings minor enhancements to the video editing experience, such as adding multiple tracks to the timeline at once, editing multiple items simultaneously, and freely rotating any media object. These features are also free for Personal accounts, with the rollout for Work accounts in progress.
I literally just created a batch script to scrub every trace of ClipChamp from Windows. Same for OneDrive, Edge, Maps, and Weather.
