OpenAI launches its Canvas tool to all ChatGPT users
OpenAI has officially launched its canvas tool for all users. Initially introduced in October, Canvas serves as a versatile tool for writing and coding, featuring a notebook-style interface integrated with ChatGPT. Users can now execute Python code directly within canvas documents, enhancing its utility for developers and programmers. Additionally, Canvas supports custom GPTs, broadening its application scope for many AI-driven tasks.
A notable new feature in Canvas enables users to receive comments for feedback and edits, supporting collaborative document improvements. Users can also directly edit ChatGPT's responses, promoting real-time collaboration with the AI. OpenAI has upgraded ChatGPT’s code recognition capabilities; when code is pasted into the chat, the AI can switch to a code editor mode for debugging or error detection. This mode allows users to run code within the interface to identify issues or confirm functionality.
This announcement coincides with OpenAI's introduction of a new ChatGPT Pro subscription plan at $200 per month and the release of its AI video generator tool, Sora.
