Grammarly acquires Coda to expand its AI productivity platform and appoints new CEO
Grammarly has announced its acquisition of the productivity startup Coda.io, marking a significant expansion into the productivity tools sector. With this acquisition, Coda's CEO and co-founder, Shishir Mehrotra, will step in as the new CEO of Grammarly, while the outgoing CEO, Rahul Roy-Chowdhury, will stay on as an adviser to facilitate the leadership transition.
Coda is known for its innovative productivity suite, which combines word processing, spreadsheet functionalities, and other tools into a single, collaborative cloud platform, through an interface that resembles other project management tools like Notion, Anytype or Logseq.
Grammarly plans to transform its AI assistant into a comprehensive "AI productivity platform" by integrating Coda’s AI tools and products. This will provide Grammarly users with new features, including generative AI chat and a productivity suite aimed at enhancing workflow efficiency. The new Grammarly CEO aims to merge Coda and Grammarly’s strengths, redefining productivity with company knowledge, generative AI, and various tools for smarter work in the AI era.
