SparkyLinux 2024.11 released with Linux kernel 6.11, Midori as default web browser, & more

Sparky, a Debian-based Linux distribution, has announced the release of version 2024.11, featuring a series of package updates and enhancements. This release is built on the Linux kernel 6.11.5, with additional kernels such as 6.11.7, 6.6.60 LTS, 6.1.116 LTS, and 5.15.171 LTS available in the Sparky repositories.

The updated version includes Midori web browser version 11.4.2, while Firefox 132 can be accessed through the repositories. Other software updates in this release include Thunderbird 128.4 ESR, LibreOffice 24.8.2, VLC 3.0.21, and Exaile 4.1.3.

A previously reported issue with the APTus AppCenter, which caused an empty window to appear on some machines, has been addressed with input from the Sparky community. Additionally, the Sparky team is continuing to work on implementing root partition encryption for the Sparky CLI Installer, though this feature is not yet available.
