AlmaLinux 9.5 Teal Serval launches globally with new compiler toolsets & updated packages

The new version of AlmaLinux, based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.5, is released globally with the codename "Teal Serval." This update introduces the Linux kernel 5.14 and a range of new features aimed at developers, including updated compiler toolsets such as GCC Toolset 14, LLVM Toolset 18.1, Rust Toolset 1.79, and Go Toolset 1.22.

The release also includes new software packages like .NET 9.0 and BIND 9.18 to boost software development and DNS services. Application streams have been refreshed with the latest versions of Apache HTTP Server 2.4.62 and Node.js 22, enhancing web server performance and JavaScript development. Additionally, developer tools such as GDB 14.2, Valgrind 3.23.0, SystemTap 5.1, and elfutils 0.191 have been updated for better debugging and performance analysis.

Security enhancements in AlmaLinux 9.5 include an upgrade to OpenSSL 3.2.2, which supports certificate compression and Brainpool curves in TLS 1.3, along with a SELinux policy update for the QEMU Guest Agent. The new release supports multiple architectures, including Intel/AMD (x86_64), ARM64 (aarch64), IBM PowerPC (ppc64le), and IBM Z (s390x).
