YouTube Shorts extends limit to 3 minutes, adds templates & show fewer Shorts option
Starting October 15th, 2024, YouTube Shorts will extend its video length limit to three minutes, moving away from its original short-form model. This change is part of YouTube's effort to compete with platforms like TikTok, which allows videos up to 10 minutes.
YouTube is also introducing a template feature for Shorts. This tool allows creators to replicate and adapt popular formats from other Shorts, making it easier to engage with trending sounds and editing styles. While this may lead to more uniform content, it simplifies the creative process and aligns with similar features on TikTok, helping creators to quickly produce content that resonates with current trends.
Furthermore, YouTube is enhancing its remix button to include these templates. To accommodate users who prefer traditional content, YouTube has also introduced a "show fewer Shorts" option, allowing users to reduce the presence of Shorts in their home feed and focus on longer-form videos.
So, by giving an option to see fewer shorts, it's obvious Youtube knows that many people don't want to see them. Yet like every videos I mark as "not interested" or "don't recommend channel", I'm sure they'll still keep pushing them regardless. Good thing there are extensions to block videos, channels, and crap like shorts that you don't want to see EVER.
What's the extension to block shorts I need this :O
