Spotify is launching its Audiobooks feature in France, Belgium, and more countries
Spotify has expanded its Audiobooks feature to France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, following [its initial UK, Australia and US launch last year](its initial US launch last year). Premium subscribers in these regions now have access to 200,000 audiobooks, including 15,000 French and 15,000 Dutch and Flemish titles, emphasizing the area's literary heritage.
The expansion is part of Spotify's strategy to compete with Amazon's Audible, currently the market leader, with Spotify now ranked second. Unlike Audible's credit-based model, Spotify provides 12 hours of listening per month for Premium individual subscribers and Family and Duo plan managers. Additional listening time can be purchased with a 10-hour top-up for €9.99.
The initiative is expected to boost the audiobook market in these regions, leveraging Spotify's 16-year presence in Western Europe.
