Brave's Leo AI assistant launching soon with Llama 2, Claude Instant, and mobile parity
The privacy-focused web browser, Brave, has recently revealed its plans to launch Leo, a native AI assistant integrated within the browser, to actively compete with similar features provided by other competitive services like Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, or the recently launched Aria by Opera. After refining the AI based on user feedback, Brave intends to introduce Leo to its 60 million users on the full release channel very soon (of course, we will be reporting it).
Leo is part of Brave's strategy to transform the user-agent concept by allowing users to actively interact with web content through the AI assistant. This will allow users to ask questions, seek explanations, and explore various perspectives, aligning with Brave's commitment to privacy and unbiased user-centric browsing. The company aims to launch Leo on its general release channel, offering a premium version with advanced features, such as access to superior models like Meta Llama 70B and Claude Instant for improved conversation quality.
The AI assistant will also be released on mobile platforms to ensure consistency across Android and iOS. The roadmap for Leo includes features like local conversation persistence, device syncing, full-page interactive UI, and integration with Brave Search and Brave News. Future enhancements for Leo include language support expansion, customization options, content consumption from PDFs, writing assistance tools, local model support, and integration with Brave Ads and Rewards. Leo aims to assist users with informed purchasing decisions while preserving privacy, potentially linking its recommendation engine to Brave Rewards. As mentioned earlier, we will inform when the AI assistant is officially launched to all users, but for now, you can try it in the Nightly version.

Hopefully this feature can be hidden. Not everyone wants to interact with AI BS and have it in their way in their browser. Some people still prefer to rely on their own intelligence.....
