Uber introduces Family Profiles and Teen Accounts to enhance safety for the entire family
Starting on May 22nd, Uber will be rolling out the family profiles feature, which allows multiple Uber accounts to be linked, providing centralized payment and real-time updates for everyone involved. Part of these family profiles will also include teen accounts in select cities across the United States and Canada. This new feature aims to enhance safety for younger individuals who may need to travel alone. Teen accounts come with a range of built-in safety features, ensuring parents and guardians can have peace of mind when their teens are on the move.
One of the key safety measures implemented in teen accounts is that parents and guardians will have the ability to closely monitor their teen's trip progress through the app. The platform will ensure that only screened and highly rated drivers are eligible to carry out trips with teens, as Uber is committed to ensuring the trustworthiness of drivers. Parents can also easily contact the driver or Uber support if necessary and report any issues that may arise during the trip on behalf of their teen. Furthermore, drivers have the option to opt out of providing rides to teenage passengers if they choose to do so. Other safety features include audio recordings, which can be useful for monitoring interactions during the trip. Additionally, RideCheck will be available to automatically detect any irregularities and provide assistance if needed. Moreover, teens will have the option to use a PIN for verification purposes, adding an extra layer of security to their trips.
In addition to teen accounts, Uber has also announced the introduction of rides with car seats for younger children. Initially launching in New York City and Los Angeles, these rides will feature Nuna's Rava car seats, which are suitable for children from birth up to 65 lbs (29.5 kg). This initiative addresses the need for enhanced safety for families traveling with young kids. Uber plans to expand the availability of rides with car seats to more cities in the future, extending this added convenience to even more families.
When it comes to Uber Eats, the platform has enabled users to add items to a shared cart, set deadlines, and split the bill effortlessly. Another delightful feature on Uber Eats is video gift messaging, allowing users to record personalized messages to accompany their gifts, adding an extra touch of thoughtfulness.
Uber's recent updates were unveiled during the company's annual product showcase, underscoring its commitment to enhancing safety and providing a seamless experience for all passengers, including teenagers and families with young children.
