Open-source note-taking platform AppFlowy launches private beta of cloud version
The open source note-taking and productivity platform alternative to Notion, AppFlowy, has announced the private beta of its new cloud version, AppFlowy Cloud, designed for deployment on cloud platforms like Amazon EC2 and Azure virtual machines (with a public launch expected soon). The new version includes an optional end-to-end encryption feature to address security issues tied to cloud use.
AppFlowy Cloud offers a hybrid local/cloud system, allowing companies to maintain a local instance and sync to the cloud as needed, providing a flexible online and offline experience. The software, which was previously available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, provides control and customization.Companies can modify their workspaces using modular building blocks, making it adaptable for different use cases. As an open-source platform, AppFlowy encourages community contributions for rapid development of new features.
Focusing on data privacy, AppFlowy Cloud positions itself as an appropriate solution for industries with strict data privacy regulations, addressing common issues with proprietary collaboration tools like data control and vendor lock-in. The company also plans to monetize by adopting a freemium model, offering the platform for free initially and introducing premium features later. A mobile app is also in development, set to launch next month, to enhance AppFlowy's cross-platform functionality.
