Microsoft officially launches Cocreator image-generating AI feature in Paint app

For the past few months, Microsoft has been testing its Cocreator image-generating AI feature, powered by OpenAI's DALL-E 3 model, in the Windows 11 Microsoft Paint app among Windows Insiders users, but now the feature has been officially launched for all Windows 11 users, allowing them to generate images from text descriptions using the Cocreator button in the upper right corner within the app.

The Cocreator feature generates three images based on a user's textual input, simplifying the creation of visual concepts. The underlying technology, DALL-E 3 model, has been already incorporated into several Microsoft services, including Microsoft Copilot chatbot and the Microsoft Copilot (Windows & 365) assistant.

The release of the Cocreator button in Paint is part of a significant series of improvements recently introduced to the Image Editor, such as support for layers, a sleek dark mode, background removal, and more, shaping the longstanding app as an interesting alternative to some key features from services like Canva, Adobe Express, or Remove.bg.
