What is Zume Editor?

Zume Editor is a commercial-grade, cross-platform native editor for text, code and binary data, in the capability class of UltraEdit. It is a single native application (no Qt, no web runtime) with platform-native rendering — Direct2D/DirectWrite on Windows, Core Text on macOS, Pango/Cairo on Linux — so it stays fast and lightweight.

It is engineered for very large files: a piece-table engine over memory-mapped I/O opens and edits multi-gigabyte files (10 GB+) without loading them into RAM, with a background line index and streaming search.

Editing: multi-caret and column/block editing, UTF-8/16/32 and a wide range of legacy code pages (Shift-JIS, EUC-JP, GBK, Big5, EUC-KR and many single-byte pages) with detection and conversion, regex find/replace, find/replace in files, syntax highlighting for dozens of languages, code folding, an outline, word wrap, bookmarks, macros and a sandboxed Lua scripting API, a command palette and fully customizable menus, toolbar, keybindings and themes (including a high-contrast theme).

Built-in tools: a dedicated hex editor, file/folder compare (and a WinMerge-style editable diff), a tabbed file browser, a terminal and SSH panel, remote editing over FTP/FTPS/SFTP, cloud-drive access, a CSV table view, and a Fork-style Git client (stage/commit, a commit-graph, branches/tags/stashes, fetch/pull/push, merge/rebase and inline conflict resolution).

For developers and reverse engineers: a structured PE/ELF/Mach-O executable reader, a Capstone-based disassembler, static cross-references and function/CFG recovery, entropy maps, YARA scanning, optional Ghidra decompilation, geo-data conversion, and database/NoSQL query panels. A headless zume-cli and an MCP server expose much of this for automation.

Zume Editor is localized in English and Japanese, ships signed installers for all three platforms, and keeps crash recovery and session restore. Telemetry is off by default.
