What is Xamera Camera?

Xamera is a Mac camera app that adds real-time beauty filters and camera effects to any app that lets you choose a camera. It creates a virtual camera called "Xamera" that you select in FaceTime, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, OBS, Twitch, or Photo Booth. All processing happens on your Mac, so your camera frames are never uploaded.

Face Studio beauty filters

  • Separate real-time controls for skin smoothing, teeth whitening, face shape, eyes, nose, and lips, so you can keep changes subtle.
  • Face Shield covers the picture (black, TV static, or out of focus) if face tracking is briefly lost, so an unfiltered frame never slips through.

Camera filters and image controls

  • Full-frame looks such as Golden Hour, Vintage, Vivid, Mono, Noir, and Sepia, plus tint, color grading, dithering, and pixelation.
  • Brightness, exposure, contrast, gamma, hue, vibrance, saturation, and sharpness controls, with zoom and mirroring.
  • Background blur (bokeh), or background replacement with a color or image.

Privacy

  • Advanced Privacy hides your camera automatically when you leave the frame or someone else comes into view.
  • Face blur and pixelation for streamers who want to stay anonymous.

Works with built-in cameras, external webcams up to 4K, and an iPhone through Continuity Camera. Requires a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 15.5 or later. Free to download, with in-app purchases.
