    Miraheze is not a big corporation shoving a billion of ads into pages and making lots of questionable decisions that impacted even the most avid users of FANDOM. It is far more customizable, although not without a slight learning curve for those used to some of the convenient features in FANDOM's visual editor.

    MediaWiki is server software that you would need to find a host for/run your own server whereas FANDOM does all the hosting for you and actually runs MediaWiki meaning it isn't really an alternative at all.
