Watt Os nicely on older hardware, its based on ubuntu. I've install it on a Dual core laptop with a 16gb ssd, and its a major improvement over what was on there which was Windows Vista. It only takes about a DVD worth of space on the drive. The best light weight linux distro I've used.
It doesnt come with App Center, you'd have to install that from the terminal with "sudo apt-get install software-center*"
