This tool has a feature to use URL to the file you are planning to download so that it can be checked before you actually download it. All you need to get is the URL for the file. That can often be made by rightclicking the download link and then clicking "Copy Shortcut" or something like that. Then paste the shortcut in Virus Total Uploaders URL-field and click "Get and upload". Good One!

Sometimes I find myself downloading so much potentially dangerous crap everyday, I can't live without this site !

Free and easy way to check files against multiple AVs before you run them. False positives are common, but it still helps you filter out the bad software nonetheless.

I'm a pretty safe and smart internet user, if I may say so (and I shall), but it's nice having this as a first line of defense when downloading applications and files.

Virustotal along with WOT is a GOOD start to safer computers!
