ViralMint is a free, open-source desktop app for short-form video — scout viral trends, clip from 1,800+ sources, and generate AI videos, motion graphics and voiceovers for cents. Released April 2026 under the AGPL-3.0 license, ViralMint runs as a free desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux. It scouts trending videos across YouTube, TikTok, Douyin, Reddit and Google Trends, scores each for virality and channel-outlier breakouts, and downloads from 1,800+ video sites via yt-dlp. It transcribes top performers locally with Whisper, extracts the hook and structure with AI, then assembles original videos — AI-written scripts, AI voiceover (Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS, free Edge TTS, or a voice you cloned on-device), word-by-word animated captions and background music — or generates AI video clips with Sora 2 Pro, Veo 3.1, Seedance and Wan. Newer modes turn a prompt into motion-graphics animations (kinetic typography rendered from HTML) and turn any website URL into a polished promo video. A finished Smart Video short — AI script, voiceover, captions, music and AI b-roll — costs roughly 10–30¢ in pay-as-you-go credits (near-zero on the pure-stock tier), among the lowest per-video costs of any AI video tool. You download the finished mp4 and post it manually: no API keys to manage, no subscription, no watermark — you pay only for the AI you actually use.
