VB Notes

 Like

VB Notes is a free, open-source (MIT) notes app for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux. Every note is a plain markdown file in a folder you choose, such as iCloud Drive or a Syncthing folder, so there is nothing to export and any other app can open the same notes.

The desktop app: nested tags, the notes list and a note with checklists and a diagram.

What is VB Notes?

VB Notes is a free, open-source (MIT) notes app for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux. Every note is a plain markdown file in a folder you choose, such as iCloud Drive or a Syncthing folder, so there is nothing to export and any other app can open the same notes.

The editor formats as you type, like Bear: headings, checklists, tables, code coloured by language, Mermaid diagrams, pictures and voice notes. Tags are written in the text and can be nested (#work/clients), and [[wiki links]] connect notes.

Search understands meaning as well as words: a small model runs on the phone or computer, so you can find a note by describing it, offline, and nothing leaves the device. The desktop app is built with Tauri, so the download is 14 MB on Mac and 5 MB on Windows. An optional AI chat uses your own API key.

No account, no ads and no in-app purchases.
