Privacy and security enhanced releases of Chromium for GrapheneOS. Vanadium provides the WebView and standard user-facing browser on GrapheneOS. It depends on hardening in other GrapheneOS repositories and doesn't include patches not relevant to the build targets used on GrapheneOS.

Good web browser that's shipped by default with GrapheneOS. It's a privacy-focused version of Chromium, so it's lightweight, fast, and regularly updated.

Just a better default Chrome app. It's a also seriously well maintained and hardened compared to even the default chrome despite G merits.

Vanadium is a very secure Webview and Browser, focuser on Security.

It is a hardened Version of Chromium, on GrapheneOS every app runs on top of it.

Vanadium just works for most sites, so while it is currently not privacy focused at all, it is a good addition to Mull. In the future the Developers will add Adblocking and more, but this needs Donations!

It can be updated seperately from the Appstore.

Vanadium should not be used on other versions of Android, as it doesnt use a hardened memory allocator itself but the one from the system. Use Cromite instead.

What is Vanadium?

Vanadium is a privacy and security hardened variant of Chromium providing the WebView (used by other apps to render web content) and standard browser for GrapheneOS. It depends on hardening and compatibility fixes in GrapheneOS rather than reinventing the wheel inside Vanadium. For example, GrapheneOS already provides a hardened malloc implementation so there's no need for Vanadium to replace it. Similarly, it can deploy security features causing breakage on other operating systems due to the ability to fix compatibility problems in the OS.
