What is Ubunye Method?

Ubunye Method is a guided meditation app for emotional and spiritual healing. Ubunye is a Zulu word meaning oneness.

Most meditation teaches you to notice a thought and let it pass. The Ubunye Method treats that as the first stage rather than the whole practice. Once you can see what you are carrying, the sessions work with the energy underneath it, using inner dialogue and affirmation repeated in the mind to move a feeling from resistance toward flow. The guiding principle is that to shift your mind you must shift your energy, and to shift your energy you change your thoughts.

Sessions are guided in audio and cover anxiety, grief, sleep, self doubt, emotional release, oneness meditation and spiritual awakening. There is no prescribed posture. You can sit, stand or lie down, whatever lets you rest and stay aware.

The practice moves through three stages. Settle, so the body stops bracing. Notice, so you can name what is actually there instead of a vague heaviness. Shift, where affirmation is used to change the energy behind the feeling.

Session lengths range from short practices for a busy day to longer immersive journeys. The app also includes breathing techniques, visualisation and guided imagery, emotional awareness practice and progress tracking.

Free to download with an optional subscription. Available on iOS and Android.
