Great for global reach, but increasingly difficult for small Indian D2C brands.
I’ve used Trustpilot for several years across various e-commerce projects. There’s no denying its authority—it's the first place people look for reviews globally.
However, for founders in the Indian market, it has two major drawbacks:
The Cost Barrier: The 'pay-to-play' model for basic features like automated review invites or customized widgets is too steep for early-stage D2C startups.

Bans accounts without good reason! Got both of my accounts! No more fun!

Verification Gap: While it manages opinions well, it doesn't offer deep legal verification (like GST or MCA checks) which is becoming essential in India to fight ghost businesses and service scams.
It’s still the gold standard for high-volume international brands, but there is a clear need for a more localized, performance-first alternative that prioritizes business legitimacy over simple star ratings.

I use Trustpilot for check company reviews before I buy services. It really help me many time to avoid bad services. The site is easy to use and I like how people can share honest feedback. Sometimes I feel some fake reviews also there, so need little improve on that side. Still very helpful platform
That may be true, but the incompetence of simply deleting legitimate accounts, even those with more than 70 reviews, overshadows everything else! That companies can buy the removal of negative reviews and the prices for enterprise solutions... Oh, let's not even get started on that!
They always take down contents with so-called 'cannot verify your experience' reason and ask me (and my friends) to provide things like 'order confirmations, receipts, email conversations', and they won't accept if you hide your personal information! Then they suspended my account for no reason! No trustfulness whatsoever!
They are liars and want to collect people’s information by verifying the identity. They told me in the first account to respond to the email so that we can return the review to you. I responded, but they did not respond until days later and said, “Send us documents proving that you have subscribed to the service.” I sent them the required documents, and yet they did not respond and remained... The account is suspended. They are shameful and liars. People should beware of them. Unfortunately, they are the most famous.
