The installation is so messed up that that LOTRO got featured in Josh Strife Hayes' "The Quit Moment - Why Games Lose Players". He tried for 5 hours to get the game to run...and failed. Also it doesn't work on DirectX 12

I tried WoW for the 10-day freebie. I liked it well enough, but I just didn't see it being worth a monthly payment, so I fished around for a free alternative. I tried LOTRO, figuring it wouldn't be as good a game as WoW, but worth playing for free.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a much better game than WoW. The graphics are better, the fight system is better, the gameplay is better - it's just all around better. Give it a try - you won't be sorry.
And now it's Free to Play! I have played and betaed quite a few MMORPGs, and the graphic beauty of this one surpasses them all. You don't have to be a Tokien fan to enjoy it, but if you are, it makes it even better. The detailed quests and storylines are amazing.
I find that it really appeals to casual gamers, although there are end-game raids etc. But as I have gotten older, the more I really want to enjoy a game, on the short time I have. I don't need another "job" like I felt Everquest was. I have amazing memories of EQ, and the forced grouping it requires...and still have friends to this day because of it, but I just don't have that kind of time anymore.
