The best alternative is Logwatch, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Specto are Growl for Windows, Log Parser Lizard, Microsoft Log Parser and Retrospective Log Analyzer.

    1. Logwatch is a customizable log analysis system. Logwatch parses through your systems logs and creates a report analyzing areas that you specify. Logwatch is easy to use and will work right out of the package on most systems.

    2. Growl for Windows is a Windows-compatible version of Growl , a notification system for Mac OS X.

    7. LogAnayzer is a text editor specifically designed to analyze log files faster and easier by allowing the user to create, store and apply rules. When a log line contains all the patterns of a rule a match is added to the index.


      The "Official Website" link goes through several redirects, and wants to install "Security" browser plugins before allowing you to continue. This looks very suspicious.

    9. SWATCH, the Simple WATCHer of Logfiles, started out as the "simple watchdog" for activly monitoring log files produced by UNIX's syslog facility. It has since been evolving into a utility that can monitor just about any type of log.
