What is smartmontools?
The smartmontools package contains two utility programs (smartctl and smartd) to control and monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (SMART) built into most modern ATA and SCSI harddisks. Same with smartctl pre-7.4 2022-05-08 r5381.
smartctl pre-7.4 2022-05-08 r5381 doesn't report some Device Models and Serial Numbers correctly with some Western Digital devices. Model Family can be problematic with old Western Digital devices.
Read labels on drives themself and on Internet. Don't trust smartctl pre-7.4 2022-05-08 r5381 blindly with some Western Digital devices.
