Skylight is a new app from the creators of Halide Camera and Spectre that predicts the quality of light in your evening. It tells you when events like golden hour and sunset occur and provides a brief forecast based on weather and environmental data. The app can help you know when to go outdoors for the best light.
The Skylight prediction model uses atmospheric factors near your location to predict golden hour, sunset, and afterglow. Unlike weather forecasts, Skylight provides a scannable forecast and extra information about conditions, making it a useful tool for planning photoshoots or enjoying beautiful sunsets.
Skylight is designed by Lux, the team behind the Apple Design Award-winning Halide Camera and the iPhone App of the Year 2019, Spectre. The app's colors and iconography change with the quality of light.
You can use the app as it is or place one of Skylight's widgets on your home screen to stay informed about the light near you.
Skylight is available on iOS 15 and above, for iPhone 6S and 6S Plus and newer devices. The app needs Location Services to create forecasts for your local light and uses background location services for constantly updating forecasts. Note that continuous use of GPS running in the background can significantly decrease battery life.
