Oh I remember the days of Skitch, originally made by Plasq. It was so ahead of its time, with the drag-me button to drag out the screenshot to the file system or right into apps. This is even relatively rare in screenshot apps today and I can't understand why that is.
I miss skitch, the default annotation font with the white border and the little details that made is the best screen capturing tool ever. What do you recommend today as an alternative ?
I've transitioned to Windows (will re-transition into Linux soon) and the annotation tool I've come to like most (probably tried them all) is Snipaste. It comes pretty close to what Skitch offered. In particular the copy to clipboard feature, and especially the save feature which doesn't require user input (naming a file choosing a location; name and location including naming scheme can be set).
It seems Evernote is ending support for Skitch. You can download and backup the installer to keep it for the future, but there won't be updates (source: Lifehacker).
I went looking and found a good alternative: Greenshot. It does the same and more than Skitch.
I mostly use the mobile app I made a backup of the app now we just hope it supports future OS :(
It's not as powerful as I expected, it's just very simple, however the size is large for its features.
I like skitch for mobile (both iOS and Android), but the Mac app isn't that good. On mac and windows I use
Picasa which I find better and more intuitive. If you want to take screenshots I recommend
Jing which is just awesome for that!
