What is Silverdaw?

SilverDAW is a free, open-source Windows app for remixing, mashups, and sample-driven music making. Import songs, loops, vocals, and samples; arrange them on a multi-track timeline; then shape them into a finished mix. Built for bedroom DJs, producers, and mixers who want a quick, focused, approachable workflow.

Your original audio files are never altered — tempo, pitch, trims, fades, volume, effects, and scratches are stored as non-destructive settings, with full undo/redo. Waveform and audio analysis run in the background, so clips are ready the moment you add them.

WHAT YOU CAN DO • Build multi-track arrangements: move, split, trim, colour, lock, duplicate, cut/copy/paste, and delete clips, with multi-clip selection and beat-grid snapping. • Create crossfades, draw a ruler range to audition or loop a section, and use a tempo-following metronome. • Import audio into the Library, drag files from Explorer onto the timeline, or bring in stems, samples, and Scratch Editor samples from another project. • Analyse audio for key, BPM, and beat positions, with manual adjustment when needed. • Auto tempo-match clips, shift pitch independently, reverse clips, and use non-destructive Brake and Backspin effects. • Split stereo clips into separate left/right tracks. • Separate tracks into vocals, drums, bass, and other stems with local AI processing, optional GPU acceleration, quality choices, and vocal reverb/echo cleanup. • Slice loops on a beat grid or custom markers, rearrange slices, or save them as reusable samples. • Add tempo-aligned Beat Repeat regions. • Mix with per-track level, equal-power pan, mute, solo, Tone EQ, Filter, Compressor, Punch, Saturation, Bit Crusher, and Reverb/Delay sends. • Shape the mix with shared Reverb and Delay, Glue Compressor, a -1 dBFS Safety Limiter, and live master metering. • Draw automation curves for level, pan, Tone, Filter, sends, Compressor, Punch, Saturation, and Bit Crusher, with multiple saved lanes per track. • Draw per-clip volume envelopes for fades, swells, and ducks. • Record and edit vinyl-style scratches with supported MIDI DJ decks, then apply to clips or save as samples. • Use supported MIDI DJ decks for transport, navigation, mixing, controller feedback, and scratching. • Save portable projects with generated stems/samples, autosave, crash recovery, relink moved files, and switch audio devices without leaving the timeline. • Export stereo mixdowns as WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or MP3, with optional loudness normalisation and selectable bit depth.

SUPPORTED AUDIO Import WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC/M4A/MP4, and Windows Media audio. Export WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and MP3. SilverDAW processes audio in 32-bit floating point to preserve quality while editing.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN All audio processing happens on your computer. No accounts, telemetry, or tracking — your audio and projects are never uploaded. Stem-separation models download only when you choose to use that feature; separation then runs fully locally.
