sigstop is a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) menu bar break reminder for macOS 14 and later. Instead of a fixed timer it tracks continuous active work from the system's idle time, so walking away pauses the clock, and it holds the break while a microphone or camera is in use, so it never fires in the middle of a call.
It works with zero permissions granted; window titles and the git branch are optional upgrades you can switch on. The only network request is an update check you trigger yourself from Settings, and the app can explain every decision it makes with a --doctor report.
Prompts escalate through SIGTSTP, SIGINT, SIGTERM and SIGSTOP, with context-aware lines for editors, terminals, browsers and AI coding tools, and a daily uptime readout shows your active time, your longest unbroken stretch and the breaks you kept.
Native Swift, universal for Apple Silicon and Intel. Installable from a DMG, from a Homebrew tap, or built from source with the Command Line Tools alone.
