What is Reed Dictation?

Reed Dictation turns natural speech into clean text in any Mac app. Hold a shortcut (Control + Option by default), speak, and release: the text is written where your cursor is, in Mail, Slack, Notes, browsers and editors.

Speech recognition (Parakeet) and cleanup run entirely on your Mac. Filler words like "um" and "uh" are removed, a restarted phrase is collapsed to the version you meant, and sentences get punctuation and capitals. After a one-time model download, dictation works offline.

No account, no subscription, no analytics. Free and open source under the Apache License 2.0.

Requirements: Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer), macOS 14 or later. English only for now.
